With a silent auction including dinner dates with Michael Musto and/or Charles Busch, and Christopher Sieber as celebrity host (about whom it was said from someone in the know that he was “impressive” in the nether regions), and with Stolly providing an open bar and Balducci’s the catering, and the adorable Seth Gold behind the music, LIVE OUT LOUD’s fifth annual Gala opened the summer benefit season with a wildly good time for the nearly five hundred celebrants.  The bartenders poured heavy and the waiters circulated with calorie- and fat-laden trays, thereby rendering dozens of summer swimsuits unwearable.  But no matter, twas all for a good cause – in this case, the awarding of $2500 college scholarships to four outstanding high school seniors who were active in their secondary schools in promoting LGBT tolerance and education.  At least one former scholarship winner was in attendance last night and if his lengthy college resume of LGBT community involvement is any indication, then the LIVE OUD LOUD scholarships serve a very real and important purpose.  As Whitney Ho used to say, The children are our future – and education is their need.  Support a LGBT student today – it’s what the world needs now.
