Looking every bit the debonair aesthete in a crisp white Oxford with dove-gray sweater vest, selvedge jeans, and razor-toed boots, Omar Gonzalez set the tone for his new monthly (every second Thursday) salon soiree The Art of Life at Halo on Michigan in Miami Beach.  With exemplary work from six local photogs and artists (Roberto Medina, Stephen Lang, Thomas Barker, Ken McCoy, Kevin Taylor—as well as our own work as MRNY) projected onto Halo’s gallery white walls, the comely crowd was treated to portraits of local nightlife legends—as well as scenes of circuit parties, hot spots, hot men, and fashion divas.  All the photogs were in attendance—as was that photographic muse, Chyna, whose ubiquitous face, at one point, seemed to adorn every wall.  Photog Dale Stine was in the house, the scene of his own exhibition a few months before, as was promoter Edison Farrow, and former MB commissioner Michael Gongorra, and Harvey Burstein, and ECOMB head, Luiz Rodriques—as well as the equivalent of a whole classroom of FIU architecture and fashion design students.  Because as Omar and Halo obviously know, when you mix art, design, and drinks in Miami, you’ve got yourself something to talk about.
